    A man who accidentally locked himself inside a Sarnia apartment building’s garage complex – and was arrested the next day when a police officer who watched the surveillance footage saw him at a nearby coffee shop still wearing the same clothes – was sentenced Wednesday to six months in jail.

    The Sarnia courtroom heard Charles Perry was seen entering the front foyer of a Front Street North apartment building just after midnight on April 22. He was able to get in the building after working on the front door with an unknown object and, once inside, walked down to the garage.

    Around the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck pulled up to the other side of the garage door and waited. Perry was seen on surveillance video trying to open the garage door for the pickup, but key fobs are required to use any of the building’s entrances.

    “Without the key fob, Mr. Perry wasn’t able to open the garage exit door. He was then unable to gain entry back into the building,” federal prosecutor Michael Robb said while reading the facts to the court. “Mr….
